Bangalore, July 21: The Karnataka Government today declared a two-day state mourning as a mark of respect to the legendary Hindustani vocalist Gangubai Hanagal, who passed away at a hospital in Hubli in the morning.
The last rites of the renowned singer will be performed at Hubli tomorrow with full state honours, official sources said.
All schools and colleges in the twin-cities of Hubli-Dharwad will remain closed tomorrow.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa left for Hubli to pay his last respects to the acclaimed singer.
Yeddyurappa announced that the government would install a statue of the doyen of Hindustani vocal music at Hubli.
