Two-day conclave for discussing feasibility of simultaneous elections to be held in Mumbai

New Delhi: The ‘One nation, One Election’ idea of PM Modi gets a new push from the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP), the think tank of RSS.

According to the news reported in Hindustan Times, a two- day conclave will be held in Mumbai on January 20 and 21, to discuss the feasibility of holding simultaneous elections in the country.

The seminar will be covering five major issues:

1. hazards of multiplicity of elections
2. concept, advisability and implementation issues related to simultaneous election
3. issues regarding no-confidence and dissolution of houses and their solutions
4. advisability and implementation-related issues of aligning local body elections with general elections
5. Worldwide experiences of ‘one nation, one election’.

For the conclave which is to be held on January 20 and 21, the centre has sent invitees to different political parties to voice their opinions on holding simultaneous elections to Loksabha and state legislative assemblies.

Rajya Sabha MP and RMP vice chairman Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, who is also the chairman of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, said that “We will present a report to the government at the end of the event.”
