Two arrested for stealing vehicles

New Delhi: Two 30-year-old men who allegedly stole vehicles to fulfil their aspiration of becoming rich have been arrested, police said today.

One of the accused Naushad, who worked as a ‘ghodiwala’ at weddings a few years back, wanted to become rich after seeing the wealthy peoples lifestyle, they said.

“Yesterday, Naushad and Hashim Saifi were arrested from Dwarka Sector-10/11 after a tip off,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Surender Kumar said, adding three stolen two-wheelers and five batteries of e-rickshaws have been recovered.

During interrogation, Naushad said he worked as a ‘ghodiwala’ in marriages and religious functions, and got inspired by the lifestyle of rich people, the officer said.

“To fulfil his dreams, he started stealing vehicles and automobile parts. Saifi, who had similar dreams, became his partner. The duo confessed that they had committed a dozen such crimes,” Kumar said.

In another incident, Vinod Kumar (30) alias Babloo and Pushkar Singh Negi (25) were arrested for allegedly stealing two-wheelers.

“On March 1, the accused were arrested near DAV School in Vikaspuri,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vijay Kumar said, adding the duo was also involved in burglary

He said four two-wheelers have been recovered.
