Two arrested for stealing mobile phones

New Delhi: Two men were arrested for their alleged involvement in changing the IMEI numbers of stolen mobile phones and then selling them, police said today.

On March 5, Yunus (23) was caught at Babu Ram School picket and a mobile phone was recovered.
The recovered mobile phone was found to be stolen from Vivek Vihar. The accused revealed that he was going to a mobile shop for getting the IMEI number changed so that he could dispose of the mobile phones easily, police said.

Subsequently, Parmod (28) was also nabbed from a mobile phone shop near Geeta Bhawan Bhola Nath Nagar, they said.
During interrogation, it was found that Yunus had given many stolen mobile phones to Parmod for changing their IMEI numbers, police said.

After changing the IMEI numbers, Parmod used to sell the stolen mobile phones, a CPU, six IMEI number changing devices, a key, several old mobile phones, whose IMEI numbers had to be inscribed on the stolen phones, were recovered, they added.
