New Delhi, May 13: Two men, including a former village sarpanch, today attempted to enter the high-security North Block housing Home and Finance Ministries allegedly carrying two live cartridges but were arrested.
The duo claimed they were trying to get an audience with Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain Meena to invite him for a wedding when they were apprehended at Gate No 2 of the North Block by security personnel at around 2:30 pm.
Mukesh Kumar and Moti Lal, hailing from Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur, were intercepted by CISF officials guarding the North Block after they were “found to be carrying” two live cartridges, a senior police official said.
“They told us that they were carrying a wedding card for Meena and that they had earlier gone to Meena’s residence to invite him. They could not meet him there so they came to his North Block office,” he said.
