Hyderabad, January 29: Two persons, who stole the ATM of a person and withdrew more than Rs 6 lakh, were arrested on Friday. Police said the accused could easily withdraw the amount as the card holder had written his PIN number on the card.
According to CID officials, the ATM card belongs to CP Jaiswal, who works as deputy general manager (accounts) in Sirpur Paper Mills in Adilabad. Jaiswal was standing in the queue of an Andhra Bank ATM at Kagaz Nagar when it was stolen. Though the theft took place on September 10, Jaiswal lodged a complaint with police on December 15, after the money got stolen from his account.
“We went through images of the person who withdrew money with the card from the surveillance cameras installed at the ATM. Studying the pattern of places from where withdrawals were being made, we nabbed the accused Kishore Samaddar,” CID officials said.
Kishore was arrested when he came to the city along with his friend, Robbin Dass, who was also involved in the offence. Another accused, Praful Samaddar is absconding. Police recovered Rs 40,00 and a mobile phone from Kishore.
