A two-and-a half-a-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man near Begur Main Road under the Electronics City police limits on Monday night.
According to police, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday after an intense search. The accused, Rajendra Sahani, 25, a native of Bihar, had settled in the City around five years ago and was working as a construction labourer in Bommanahalli.
He used to visit the parents of the vicyim who worked at a building site belonging to Mookambika Builders on Begur Main Road. The girl and her parents are also said to be from Bihar.
On Monday night, Rajendra visited the family as usual and told the victim’s parents that he would take her out to buy her chocolates and biscuits. On the contrary, he took her behind an empty shed nearby, raped her and fled the spot.
The girl returned home at around 10 pm, crying and her parents noticed her bleeding from her private parts. They rushed her to a nearby hospital and reported to the police.
The police who visited the spot took the girl to St John’s Hospital for medical check up and further treatment. A case has been filed.
