Twin bombings kill six in Syria

Damascus: At least six people were killed and 36 others were injured when two car bombs exploded in Syria’s Al-Zahra’ district of Homs city, the media reported.

The toll was expected to rise further as a large number of injured people were in a critical condition, Xinhua quoted Homs governor Talal Barazi as saying.

Al-Zahra’ is a district inhabited by adherents of the Alawite minority, an offshoot of Shia to which the ruling elite in Syria belongs.

Earlier this month, over 20 people were killed and tens of others were injured when a bomb rocked the same neighbourhood.

The Islamic State (IS) militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.
