Hyderabad: Golfer Tvesa Malik, the current leader on the Hero women’s Pro Tour, will have a great chance to extend her lead at the top at the 11th leg of the tournament that begins at the scenic Boulder Hills Golf and Country Club here on Wednesday.
With Neha Tripathi and Gursimsar Badwal, who are chasing the leader, away in the US for the LPGA Stage-I Qualifying School, Tvesa’s main challenger this week will be Amandeep Drall.
Although Amandeep has won twice this season, her overall results have been somewhat of a mixed bag.
Bengaluru’s Sharmila Nicollet is also at the LPGA Stage-1 of Qualifying School in Rancho Mirage, California.
Tvesa won her only title this season in the fourth leg at Oxford Golf and Country Club, while she was also second at the sixth, seventh and ninth legs in what has been a consistent season for her.
The limited field suffered a further setback, when Vani Kapoor complained of feeling unwell following her practice round, and withdrew from the event. Gaurika Bishnoi and Smriti Mehra are also skipping this leg.
Siddhi Kapoor, Ayesha Kapur and Tvesa will go out in the first group on Wednesday, followed by Suchitra Ramesh, Amandeep and Sonam Chugh. The last group will comprise of Millie Saroha, Khushi Khanijau and Afshan Fatima.
