Television has now become the source of embitterment. It is creating rift between the siblings also. In an appalling incident occurred recently at Hafiz Baba Nagar, a young girl hanged herself to death because her younger sister continued watching her favourite serial and did not allow her to watch the serial she wanted to see. 18 year old Arshiya Parveen was the student of intermediate 1st year in govt. Junior college, Malakpet. Her father Mohammed Javeed Ali is a private servant and has two sons and two daughters. Arshiya Begum was the eldest. Her parents were also shocked over her suicide on a petty issue.
According to sub inspector Kanchan Bagh G Malla Reddy the deceased had altercations with her younger sister on the issue of watching television. She was dejected by her failure in taking possession of the TV remote control and by her parents taking side of her younger sister. She went into another room and strangled herself with a pant piece. The ghastly incident took place on December 6 when all the Muslims were observing black day to mark the 20 anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition.
