Turning V-Day into Wed-Day

Hyderabad, February 15: This year too the VHP and its youth wing Bajrang Dal had braced for what they call protection of traditional and cultural values from being corrupted by ‘unethical’ western practices.

On Monday around 19 couples throughout the State were chased, cajoled, counselled and finally made to enter wedlock.

According to members of the organisation, most of these marriages were either performed in Bajrang Dal office or in temples, after the couple gave their consent to get married.

As far as the city is concerned, 22-year-old Nagaraju and 19-year-old Lavanya who were spotted at Gandipet were brought to Bajrang Dal office at Kothi and were married in presence of their parents.

Similarly, Gajanand, a sales boy who was spotted with Deepika at Kachiguda by the Bajrang Dal activists were later married at their office in Koti.

However, the parents of both the youngsters reportedly refused to accept the courtship.

But Bajrang Dal members have promised to protect the couples.

Bharath Vamshi, city convener, Bajrang Dal informed, “We had also caught a couple of teenagers who were hardly 16 or 17. We brought them to our office and even called their parents. We made them understand the importance of Indian culture and how harmful these western practices are for youngsters. The youngsters promised to shun any such activities in the future.”
