Istanbul: President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan is emerging as the spiritual leader of all the Muslims around the world. Now, he is making an attempt to bring all the Muslims under one roof by developing a common language and attitude.

According to the report published in Anadolu Agency, Hamit Emrah Beris who is the professor at Gazi University of Ankara and Dy. Head of Turkey’s Public Order and Security Under Secretariat said that Turkey has ancient relations with many countries of the Islamic world.

He also said those authoritarian governments of the region neglect the demands of the people while deciding state policies. He further said such governments toe the line of the West.

Talking about the present situation in the region, he said that it is most unfortunate that Islamic society is not united. The reason for such disunity is that most regimes have their vested interests in the Western world, he added.

Ahmed Uysal, Professor of Middle East Studies at Istanbul University said that in the past century, the world faced many massacres, humanitarian and political crises.

It may be mentioned that despite international pressure, US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Talking about Palestine issue, Prof. Uysal said that when such crisis arises, the role of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) becomes crucial.

Reacting to US decision on Jerusalem, he said that unity of the Muslim world is the need of the hour.

It may be noted that OIC is the second largest inter-governmental organization after the UN. It was founded in 1969.
