Kabul, January 21: Turkey will train 500 Afghan police officers, Interior Minister Basmillah Mohammadi said Saturday.
Fivehundred more officers will be trained in Turkey in the near future, he added.
Mohammadi was speaking at an award ceremony for officers who recently came back from Turkey after completing their course, Xinhua reported.
The government has stepped up efforts to train and equip Afghan police and the army as the NATO-led forces have handed over the security responsibilities of several areas in the country to the Afghan authorities.
