In what turned out to attract several curious onlookers here on Sunday, the discovery of an old structure in the Old City on Sunday, less than a kilometre from Charminar a tunnel found. Talk among locals was that the new finding was.
Witnesses speculated that the structure at Chelapura, which was found during an excavation, could be a tunnel connecting Charminar to Golconda Fort.
The area in which the discovery was made, was being dug up for construction works and the soil was removed to construct a house. The locals, after seeing the structure, immediately alerted the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials.
Sources from the department said that the finding could be from the Qutub Shahi era. ASI officials will visit the area and inspect it on Monday.
