The Tungabhadra reservoir is receiving heavy inflows following rains in the State. The water level in the reservoir has risen to 85,000 cusecs. With this, the project officials lifted 33 sluice gates and letting out two lakh cusecs downstream.
The Tungabhadra Board officials called upon the people living along the Tungabhadra river to remain vigilant. The officials said the river may be in spate in the next two days. Tungabhadra Board superintending engineer Srinivasa Rao cautioned the people to remain alert.
The water from Sunkeshula project was also released as floods from upper riparian areas was reaching it heavily.
Control Room has been setup Kurnool district collectorate to monitor the water levels of Tungabhadra river. (NSS)
