TDP leader Medpalli Satyam today demanded that R&B Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao resign from his post and contest for Palair Assembly bye-election.
Satyam, in a statement, questioned why Tummala Nageshwara Rao was not resigning from the minister post to contest the bye-election. “Is he afraid of losing his minister post if he loses the election”, he asked. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, who was staying in his farmhouse, was neglecting the drought situation and hurriedly announced the name of Tummala Nageshwara Rao for Palair Assembly bypoll scheduled to be held on May 16, Satyam said.
There was a tradition in the Telugu States that if a sitting MLA passes away, the vacant seat should be given to one of his family members. But, the TRS leaders have adopted intimidating tactics and coercing leaders of other parties to join their party, he blamed. (NSS)
