Tulasi Reddy defends CBI’s action against Sakshi

Chairman of 20 points programme N Tulasi Reddy on Wednesday took serious note on Sakshi newspaper for using strong words ‘Freedom of press murdered in democracy’ in connection with CBI freezing accounts of Jagati Publications Limited.

Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Tulasi Reddy condemned the use of such headlines by Sakshi newspaper and said that the CBI did not attack the freedom of press. He said that the CBI has taken all measures to protect the freedom of press before seizure of accounts.

Stating that CBI seized accounts of Sakshi paper as part of investigations, he said that the journalists in the organization were in no way connected to the probe and only management would be held responsible. He said that the freezing of accounts was not new when grave allegations come to light in the charge sheet submitted in the court.

Tulasi Reddy appealed to the government to take up the responsibility of employees and journalists working in Sakshi Newspaper. Condemning the criticism of Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy against the government, he said that there was no political motive behind this and law would take its course.

Stating that Jagan has been playing `opportunistic politics’, he accused Jagan of misusing media to protect himself from the CBI and avoid arrest. (INN)
