Hyderabad, April 15: Tension prevailed at Lanco Hills in Gachibowli today after scores of Telangana United Front (TUF) members barged into its premises and hoist Telangana flags and banners. They also tied a banner which reads ‘Telangana Hills’ on top of the 29-storeyed building. Lanco Hills belongs to Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal.
At around 2.30 p.m, about 100 members of the TUF led by its leader Vimala entered the Lanco Hills premises which is under construction.
The mob entered the township through gate number 15 and allegedly attacked four security personnel present there, who tried to resist them. .
The activists later gained entry into the 29-storeyed apartment, took the staircase while raising slogans in support of Telangana. Eyewitnesses said they damaged the tubelights in all the 29 floors all along the staircase and tied TUF flags on all the floors. After reaching the terrace, they tied a banner reading `Telangana Hills’.
All along the activists raised slogans against Rajagopal, who is a staunch supporter of united Andhra Pradesh. The drama went on for nearly two hours before Cyberabad police could arrive.
The policemen bundled the protestors in the waiting police vehicles and took them to Raidurgam police station. Though there were reports of furniture in the office being destroyed by the activists, Cyberabad police denied it.
The agitators continued their protest in the police station. Following the incident, the Cyberabad police deployed armed personnel at the Lanco Hills.
