Telangana Telugu Desam party leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao and L Raman on Friday charged the TRS government with driving the distressed farmers to commit suicide due to their criminal negligence and apathy.
Speaking to mediapersons, the TTDP leaders said while Irrigation Minister Harish Rao shot a letter to the Centre over farmers’ suicides in the State, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was doing nothing to wipe the tears of the farming community by waiving crop loans of farmers in one installment.
Alleging that the ministers’ statements on farmers’ suicides proved that the government and the Chief Minister lacked sincerity to rise to the occasion and prevent suicides of farmers, the TTDP leaders pointed out that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devander Fadnavis was visiting agriculture market yards to console the distressed farmers in that State, Telangana Chief Minister KCR was spending his time in his farm house.
