TTD sends 51 special appointees home

Tirumala, June 14: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has sent 51 special appointees, including P Seshadri aka Dollar Seshadri, PVRK Prasad, Kamisetty Srinivasulu, Samudrala Lakshmaiah, Anantha Padmanabham and Venkata Sharma, home.

TTD executive officer IYR Krishna Rao issued an order to this effect today. Many of them worked for over a decade in the TTD after their retirement.

According to sources, the removal of special invitees will save the TTD a minimum of Rs 25 – 30 lakh a month. After the High Court’s direction to the TTD, the issue was tabled at the board meeting which resolved to remove the special appointees. “We felt that it was appropriate to inform the State Government about the board’s decision and sought its advice,’’ Rao told Express. According to highly placed sources, the Chief Minister’s Office ratified the TTD’s decision.
