TTD to sell group tickets to individuals too

Tirumala, December 25: Devotees of Lord Venkateswara, who wish to participate alone in the sevas, can do so from January 1 thanks to a decision taken by the TTD.

Executive officer IYR Krishna Rao said here today that according to the rationalisation of all seva tickets the administration decided to allow single devotees or couples for some periodocal Arjita Sevas for which group or family tickets are issued.

The decesion had been taken long ago following the recommendation made by the three-member committee of PVRK Prasad, endowments commissioner and the executive officer, but the delay in implementation was on account of the change needed in the software to allow sale of tickets for individuals, he explained.

Hereafter, devotees can purchase seva tickets even for Sahasra Kalasabhishekam, Sahasra Deepalankara Seva, Brahmotsavam, Dolotsavam or any other seva individually, except for Kalyanotsavam for which only couples are allowed.

This enables devotees pay a minimum share of the total ticket cost. For instance, a ticket for Sahsra Deepalankara Seva costs Rs 1,000 on which five person will be allowed.

Hitherto, if any devotee wanted to participate in the seva all alone, he was required to buy the Rs 1,000 ticket. But now, now he can pay Rs 200, a single person’s share of the cost of ticket for five persons, Krishna Rao explained.
