Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao has informed the State Legislative Assembly that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) board owes Rs 241 crore to the Telangana State, as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Replying to a question posed by Mudhole MLA G Vittal Reddy during Question Hour, Harish said that the State Government has been making efforts to get Rs 241 crore from the TTD at the earliest. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao too has directed the officials to expedite the process. He said while the TDP owes Rs 241 crore as per the Reorganisation Act, it comes to around Rs 381 crore as per the CAG Report. He said that the TTD would deposit the amount in the account of Endowments Department and in turn, it would release the amount in the State’s exchequer.
Harish Rao also announced that Yadagirigutta Temple would be developed at a cost of Rs 100 crore, on the lines of TTD. He assured that the government would take all steps to develop the temples across Telangana State.
The minister did not deny that the previous government of united Andhra Pradesh gave priority to sanctioning Common Good Fund to Andhra and Rayalaseema regions although he said that the information was not readily available. Further, he said that 33 applications of CGF worth Rs 17.11 crore were pending for Telangana temples.
BJP floor leader Dr Lakshman urged the government to resolve the problems being faced by Archakas. He also said that nearly Rs 25 crore were required for renovation of about 200 temples in Nalgonda district. Others MLAs including G Sunitha, Vittal Reddy and R Ramesh also spoke. (INN)
