TTD to halt Anantha Swarnamayam

Tirumala, December 03: Senior officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) have decided to put a stop to the muchhyped Anantha Swarnamayam project in tune with the verdict given by the AP High Court.

The top brass of the TTD also decided to write a letter to the state government seeking its advice on the matter. They decided not to make any changes to the existing ancient structure at Tirumala. Executive officer I Y R Krishna Rao told Express that the verdict cited several reports of the Archeological Survey of India, archeological experts, opinions given by the Agama Sashtra Pandits and a host of other reports.

The EO said the officials were of the opinion that the centuries-old Tirumala temple and its premises should be preserved for posterity.

However, alternative measures should be planned and executed, like the moving carpet for hassle-free darshan for the pilgrims, Krishna Rao said.
