TTD to give special quota darshan for newly-weds

Tirumala, April 30: TTD has come up with a novel idea for the newly-wed couple, who wants to have a darshan of Lord Balaji.

Henceforth, they can avail the newly introduced special quota in the current booking for Kalyanotsavams.

Explaining the new initiative to media persons here on Friday, TTD executive officer IYR Krishna Rao said that the new system will come into force from April 30 onwards.

Tickets will be issued to the couple on first-come- first-served basis and at the same time the ticket-holders should have been married not more than a week while availing the special quota.

He said quota of 20 kalyanotsavam tickets have been allotted to the newly-wed couples and they will be issued on first come first serve basis. “Out of the 100 kalyanotsavam tickets issued under current booking, 20 will henceforth be allotted to the newly weds. If the number of couples, who booked the tickets does not exceed the quota on any particular day, then the remaining tickets will be issued under general quota to other pilgrims,’’ he added.

According to him, the newly weds should submit a proof of their marriage, that is photos of their wedding including mangalyadharana and talambralu along with the invitation card at the counter specifically allotted for the purpose. The counter will be inaugurated by the TTD executive officer on Saturday.

Krishna Rao said they have also introduced 25 tickets each of periodical sevas – Sahasra Kalasabhishekam and Tiruppavadai seva tickets under current booking which will come into force from May 4 and 5 respectively.

He said the TTD has taken up renovation of various cottages at an estimated cost of Rs 34 crore and 75 per cent of them were expected to be completed by this year end.

He also inspected the ongoing works of Narayanagiri Gardens, new Annadanam complex and wastage dumping area in Kakulakonda.
