Tirupati, June 29: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer IYR Krishna Rao chose to spend Sunday in a rather different way to take stock of things on the hill shrine.
Rao who went for a walk around 7 am without his attendants, did not return to the camp office, but chose to join Sarva Darshan queue at Shankumitta as a common devotee. It took him nearly 12 hours to have darshan of Lord Venkateswara.
He carried a notebook in which he had jotted down his findings as a common pilgrim.
Later, speaking to mediapersons, Rao said he spent the day as a common pilgrim to know about arrangements made by the TTD. “The arrangements for common pilgrims are satisfactory and I had good darshan. I noticed certain things and what need to be done will be done in time,’’ he said.
The news of the TTD Executive Officer in Sarva Darshan queue came out while food packets were being distributed to pilgrims waiting in the queue complex. Rao instructed the TTD officials not to make any changes on his account and ate the food. He also asked them to have darshan of Lord every week through Sarva Darshan to be aware of problems of common pilgrims. It was learnt that the TTD EO directed the officials to allow both the parents of an infant below one year of age through Mahadwaram. Father accompanying the infant was not being allowed through Mahadwaram till now.
