Tirumala, February 13: The TTD deposited 1,175 kg of gold with the state-owned State Bank of India today.
On May 23 last year it haddeposited 1,075 kg of gold with the same bank to have a ‘perennial source’ of income to the country’s richest devastahnam.
TTD Specified Authority chairman J Satyanarayana handed over the gold deposits to SBI (Hyderabad Circle) general manager TS Krishna Murthy here today in the presence of TTD executive officer IYR Krishna Rao and member V Nagi Reddy.
The SBI official said the TTD was the largest gold depositor among the country’s religious institutions.
The day also marked inauguration of ‘secured payment gateway’ by integrating the TTD online payment facility with SBI, Punjab National Bank and HDFC Bank for accepting e-Hundi offerings.
The facility enables devotees to use their debit, credit, Visa, Master cards to make donations.
