TT Bill lapse, victory of Indian Constitution and democracy: Gujarat Milli Council

Close on the heels of the lapse of the triple talaq bill In Rajya Sabha, All India Milli Council, Gujarat Chapter termed it as a victory of the Indian Constitution and democracy, and hailed terming it as a relief to Indian Muslims.

Gujarat Milli Council, President Mufti Rizwan Qasmi Tarapuri clearly told that this proved that Indian democracy and constitution is very powerful against fascists forces who went all out to interfere in Sharia. He congratulated AIMPLB for long and steady fight against this controversial TT bill nation wide. Indians and Indian secular values won and. BJP and its divisive politics defeated by people,“The Bill was an insult to over three crore Muslim women who had raised their voice against it and given a signed petition to the central government,” he added.

The Bill lapsed in the Rajya Sabha (RS) as it was adjourned sine die . As the bill got lapsed in the RS, it will again have to get passed in the Lok Sabha to become a law, which can only happen after the formation of a new government.

Its general secretary Abdul hafiz lakhani, who is also a senior journalist reacted that in spite of opposition by several parties in Lok Sabha and by the Muslim community across the country, the bill had been passed in house..“It was the worst form of dictatorship. It was clearly motivated to polarize the upcoming election,”but now lapse of bill is a step in the right direction. He reminded that this bill had no support in the upper house and got passed in the lower house only because it had numbers.
