TSR Shocks Purandareswari: Says He Would Contest From Vizag

Congress senior leader T Subbarami Reddy once again shocked the union minister Purandareswari by asserting that he would contest from the Visakhapatnam lok sabha constituency in the next elections.

Talking to the media here on Tuesday, he said the Congress high command was thinking of fielding Purandareswari from the Narsaraopet constituency. He said selection of Lok Sabha candidates would be on the basis of the candidates contacts with the local people and the ground level situation.

It may be mentioned that Purandareswari won from Visakhapatnam in 2009 and was accommodated in the union cabinet. Ever since then, the two have been claiming the seat as TSR also represented the constituency in lok sabha earlier. In the by-election to the Nellore seat caused by YSR Congress supporter Raja Mohan Reddy, Subbarami Reddy was fielded by the Congress high command but he lost with a heavy difference. If he had won, he would have retained the seat. As he had nurtured the Visakha constituency, TSR is keen on getting his seat back. Strangely both are not from Vizag. While TSR is from Nellore district, Puranareswari is from Prakasham district. TSR had taken up several cultural and service activities in Vizag, with a view to making it his home constituency. (NSS)
