Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday informed the State Legislative Assembly that Telangana State would be on top in the country in generation of Solar Power in the next six months.
Replying to a question raised by Congress MLA Challa Vamshichand Reddy during Question Hour, the minister said that Telangana was pressently producing 1,000 MW of Solar Power. With 1300 MW of Solar Power, Rajasthan is on top position in the country. By increasing the production to 2200 MW in the next six month, Telangana would acquire the top position. He said that the tender process for increase in solar power generation has been completed.
The minister also informed that the Central Government has proposed the establishment of Solar Power Plants for agriculture pump sets. The Central Government is providing subsidy on capacity basis, i.e., Rs. 32,400 per HP capacity up to 5 HP. No specific ration between State and Central Government has been decided, he said. So far, 90 Solar pump sets have been provided. Stating that the Centre has so far released Rs. 15.938 crore for the project, he said that the State Government did not release any funds so far. (INN)
