Stating that Telangana State is developing rapidly thanks to the measures being initiated by my Government which is reflected in the number one position it achieved in the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) rankings, and the youngest State today is often being referred to as the most happening State, Governor ESL Narasimhan has assured that his Government will prepare plans and schemes to ensure that all sections of the people lived happily, peacefully and with full satisfaction.
In his speech at the Republic day celebrations here today, the Governor said that the Government is taking measures, in a rapid way, to achieve the goal of ‘Bangaru (Golden) Telangana’ and it has already launched a number of schemes and programmes in that direction. He reiterated that the Government is weeded to the welfare of SCs, STs, Backward Classes and Minorities. ”We have completed 31 months in the Government and our targets and priorities are now well defined. The needs of weaker sections are being addressed in right earnest and our planning and execution of the welfare programmes for the poor is commendable”.
He said the Government has launched a slew of flagship programmes and initiatives. The successes of schemes like Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya have found an echo at the national level. The NITI Aayog and other State Governments are admiring the Telangana model. ”Telangana is on its way to becoming a role model State in the Country and overwhelming public support is driving my Government to work with renewed dedication and energy”.
Welfare Schemes
In his lengthy speech, the Governor reviewed the programmes and schemes taken up by the Government for the welfare of the people and the development of the State. He referred to the creation of 21 new districts, to take the administration to almost every doorstep and to keep track of individual families and their progress; taking up of Irrigation development, to optimally utilize the water from Godavari and Krishna rivers and with an aim to irrigate one crore acres of agricultural land in the State; the innovative measure ‘ Mission Kakatiya’ aimed at improving the lot of the farming community and making their lives economically more meaningful; the dream project of Mission Bhagiratha at a cost of nearly Rs.42,000 crore to provide safe drinking water through tap to every household in the State and to cover 25,000 rural habitations by the end of 2018; the Significant progress in achieved in power sector through short, medium and long term measures to overcome the power problem; Haritha Haram programme that is aimed at increasing the State’s green cover from the present 25 percent to 33 percent.
Narasimhan further said that the Government aims to render justice to all sections of the society so that they can live with dignity and self-respect. In this context, he explained the Aasara pension scheme for different sections; double-bedroom housing for poor that will go a long way in fulfilling the dream of every deserving homeless poor; Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes; Several initiatives for SCs and STs; Residential schools for SC/STs, BCs and Minorities; Reservation to STs and Muslims in proportion to their population; Priority for Welfare of Minorities; Development of Temples; Welfare of Army Personnel and development of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry; big boost to IT sector; and Urban Development.
