Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana proposes to transfer 1300 km roads which are under Panchayati Raj Dept. to the Dept. of Roads and Buildings. This decision has been taken in view of increasing traffic on these roads and various representations from MLAs and MPs. It was observed that Govt. allots lesser budget for the Dept. of Panchayati Raj for maintenance of roads. It is understood that various MLAs had exerted pressure on the Govt. to transfer these road to the Dept. of Roads and Buildings.
After TRS took over in Telangana, Mr. KCR allotted more funds for the Dept. of Panchayati Raj. As a result of which the maintenance work of the road has been accelerated. A sum of Rs. 30-40 lakh is required for maintenance of these roads.
It is understood that a resolution has to be moved in the general body meetings of Zilla Parishads. It is also necessary to take the acceptance the officials of Panchayati Raj Dept. so far, 205 Km roads have already been transferred to Dept. of Roads and Buildings.
