TS signs MoU with ISRO to take Mana TV programs to people

The Telangana State government entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ISRO on Wednesday to take the ‘Mana TV’ programs — Distance Education, Tele Medicine, Skill Development and so on — to the people further by using satellite technology.

           

Speaking on the occasion, IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao has said the agreement of Mana TV with ISRO will facilitate training to Group-II candidates from October 1. Urging the candidates preparing for Group-II examination to utilize the Mana TV programs, KTR said the training will be given to them through Mana TV. The Telangana Public Service Commission would stand as a model in the country and giving jobs without entertaining recommendations, KTR said.

          

  TSPSC Chairman Ganta Chakrapani said the training to Group-II candidates would help poor from the rural areas. The State government was providing more jobs though it was a small one and ahead in providing employment. Actually the then United Andhra Pradesh State entered into an agreement with ISRO in 2006 but it failed to renew it in 2009.

Keeping the changes in technology in view, the Telangana government entered into a new agreement with ISRO. The ISRO allotted 17 Mega Heads Band Width to Mana TV (Softnet) in GSAT-8. Presently, four channels could be telecast with MPeg-2 Technology. But changing to MPeg-4 technology there was a chance to telecast four more channels. For this, Development and Education Communication Unit (DECU) was giving technical knowledge to Softnet (Mana TV).           Softnet would get a chance to telecast useful programs to the people using new channels. The Softnet would telecast training programs to the candidates, who were preparing for engineering, agriculture, medicine and like entrances.

The aim of Softnet was to teach lessons using technology in government schools in a great manner. The Softnet channel also launch awareness and training classes from October 1 with experienced teachers for the candidates preparing for Group-II examination being conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission. The candidates, who were getting prepared to Group-II examinations, could avail the programs in Mana TV ROTs placed in schools across the State.

The training classes will be telecast before and after the timings of the schools. The channel will re-telecast the same programs during holidays. The agreement with Mana TV will facilitate the State government to take the programs to every household. The Mana TV programs were also available in YouTube. Mana TV also contemplating to prepare programs for women for one hour every day. The programs for Women would be on health, Nutrition, sanitation, growth of children, speaking in English along with introduction of government schemes and how to utilizing them.

            The State government was also launching digital classes in 6000 schools across the State from October 14.
