TS: Rs. 100 cr liquor sold, over 2000 drunken driving cases registered on New Year’s Eve

Hyderabad: On the New Year’s Eve, Rs. 100 crore liquor was sold and more than 2000 drunken driving cases were registered in Telangana State.

According to the report published in TOI, Excise Dept. earned 20% more on the sale of liquor in December 2017 compared to December 2016.

It is also reported that apart from Hyderabad, there was the high sale of liquor in Nizamabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda and Khammam.

Meanwhile, over 2000 cases of drunk driving were registered by police under the jurisdiction of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda police commissionerates on New Year’s Eve. Many vehicles were seized.

TV anchor Machiraju Pradeep was also booked for drunk driving.

A senior police official said 1,600 cases of drunk driving were registered under the Hyderabad police commissionarate. Sandeep Shandilya, Cyberabad Police commissioner said 528 cases of drunk driving were registered in their jurisdiction and will be dealt as per the law.

A senior official of Rachakonda Police also said that they registered 234 cases of drunk driving.
