Demanding that the State government immediately concede their long-pending demands, the Telangana State Government Retired Employees’ Association has decided to launch agitation in phases from August 22 to September 22.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, Association president K Chandraprakash Rao and secretary-general R Vishwas Reddy said the Association has been demanding that the government pay additional quantum of pension to the pensioners, who completed 70 years; payment of PRC arrears of nine months; Implementation of Comprehensive Health Scheme – cashless treatment to the State government retired employees in corporate hospitals, including OP and medicines; sanction of Dearness Relief to pensioners from January 1, 2016; extension of 1956 Telangana safeguards; allotment of double bedroom quarters to homeless pensioners; 30% concessional bus fare in TSRTC buses to pensioners and senior citizens; creation of a special cell at Secretariat level for redressal of their problems; sanction of incentive to the retired employees for participation in Telangana movement from 1969 and 2001 to 2014.
The association leaders said the Telangana State Government Retired Employees would stage dharnas at STOs/Tahsildars on August 22 from 10 am to 2 pm and submit memoranda throughout the State. They would also stage dharnas on September 7 from 10 am to 2 pm at Collectorates and submit memoranda to district Collectors/MLAs and other public representatives throughout the State. On September 22, they would stage a Maha Dharna from 10 am to 2 pm at Indira Park and submit memorandum to the Chief Secretary, they added. (NSS)
