Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary SK Joshi today stated that the state machinery is ready to hold the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in a peaceful manner with the same spirit of the recently conducted Assembly polls. He was attending a video conference addressed by CEC, Sunil Arora from Delhi.
From Secretariat, the Chief Secretary interacted with Arora along with CEO Rajat Kumar, DGP Mahendar Reddy, Principal Secretaries Somesh Kumar, Rajiv Trivedi, Additional DG Jithender and other officials. The CEC has held the crucial meeting in for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Joshi informed the election commission that they are ready to provide necessary facilities during the polls and make ready the polling stations and also additional facilities to the physically disabled.
The CS said that budget will be released for the polls and they will hold a meeting with border states on Feb 5 to ensure smooth polls and publish the electoral rolls of Telangana on February 22.
DGP Mahender Reddy informed that all the elections are being conducted in peaceful manner without any incident. Our police are asked to remain alert on the naxal movements from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra with check posts and address cases of the elections. For the LS polls 19000 policemen and 276 companies of Central forces are needed. Rajat Kumar said that they have adequate number of ROs and AROs to update the electoral rolls and set up a toll free number 1950 for queries. They received 16 lakhs of claims and objections and due to panchayat polls special drive for enrolment was extended up to February 4, he said. Telangana State has conducted the polls in a peaceful manner without any incidents, he added.
