Hyderabad: A Panther that fell into a trap in a snare at Rajapeta Thanda village of Marriguda Mandal in Nalgonda district of Telangana died on Thursday after being rescued by officials of Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.
After receiving information on Thursday from Divisional Forest Officer, Nalgonda at around 08.30 am about a Panther trapped in a snare the rescue team lead by Dr. Asadullah, Veterinary Asst. Surgeon, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad rushed to the spot and rescued the Panther safely by way of Chemical immobilization.
The male Panther aged about 7-year-old had suffered injuries in the snare trapped by farmers for trapping the Wild Boars. The Panther died on the way while shifting to Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.
The Post Mortem was conducted by the Veterinary Experts Dr. M.A Hakeem, Dy. Director (Vet), Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, Dr. M. Navin Kumar, Dy. Director (Retd), Consultant Zoo Park, Dr. Shambulingam, Asst. Director (Vet), Zoo Park, and Dr. Kotinagu, VBRI. The team of doctors has certified that the cause of death is due to internal hemorrhages, shock and “Asphyxia”.
All the samples are collected and sent to VBRI, Shantinagar for detailed investigation, informs, Curator of Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.
