TS is No.1 in godowns, says Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Telangana is number one State in constructing huge number of Godowns in the country and farmers are witnessing golden era of all support for farming activities, according to Marketing and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao.

He was participating as a chief guest in Diamond jubilee celebrations of State Warehousing Corporation at Haritha Plaza here. On the occasion he said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has launched welfare schemes for farmers in a big way.

Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima are proving handy and suicides by farmers have been drastically reduced he claimed. The TRS Government has increased godowns capacity to 21 lakh metric tons from 10 lakh metric tons in four years and increased occupancy ratio to 100 per cent. In just four years, the KCR Government constructed 11 lakh metric tons godowns afresh in four years totalling 21 lakh metric tons while it was 10 lakh tons during the previous regime.

The development of warehousing corporation was due to combined efforts of KCR who gave money and the staff contribution he said. With KCR assurance we have taken steps for new godowns to cater to the needs despite pressure against it he said.

The TRS Government brought in 12 lakh acres under irrigation through various projects and stabilised 12 lakh acres through the flagship mission kakatiya program. He also claimed that 24 hours free power, Rs 4000 per acre, adequate stocks of fertilisers and seeds enhanced agriculture production in the state. The Congress regime failed to give 9 hours of power in phases and dumped the farmers and ignored the projects from completion he ridiculed. Since state received better rains and MSP was offered to several crops, the warehousing staff has to be ready for procuring more produce, he said.
