Telangana Government today urged NITI Ayog to extend financial assistance for the flagship programs of Mission Bhagiratha and Telangana Haritha Haram. Planning Secretary BP Acharya and other officials on Friday held a discussion with NITI AYog, Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya at Haritha Plaza in Begumpet. Panagariya is actually came to Hyderabad to meet with the chief minister to discuss on the flagship programs and to announce some funding, has held deliberations with Acharya on the issue.
BP Acharya apprised Panagaria of about the prestigious programs of providing potable and safe drinking waters to every household in rural pockets and towns that are deprived of the drinking water facility. He also recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the piped water scheme at Gajwel on Aug 7 and appreciated the efforts of the state government. The water scheme will provide safe waters to 80 lakhs of families in the state Acharya stated.
He also stated that the government took up the haritha haram project to expand green cover to 33 per cent from 24 per cent. As part of 46 cr saplings we have so far planted 26 cr saplings he said. He also discussed on the reforms needed in labour department and gave permission to open the shops and business establishments for 365 days in the state. The secretary also sought suitable funding to the prestigious programs, a release said. (NSS)
