The Telangana Government on Friday informed the Hyderabad High Court that it has withdrawn the post of Parliamentary Secretaries in the State.
The Advocate General made it clear that that the State Government would abide by the High Court’s orders issued on May 1 wherein it had scrapped the GO Ms 173 cancelling the appointment of six Parliamentary Secretaries.
It may be mentioned that the High Court had scrapped the posts of Parliamentary Secretaries following separate petitions filed by Congress MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Telugu Desam MLA A Revanth Reddy. The High Court had held that the appointments were against the norms and unconstitutional. The State Government had appointed six legislators as Parliamentary Secretaries and they were also assigned a portfolio.
They were Srinivas Goud (Revenue), V Sathish Kumar (Education), G Kishore Kumar (Health), K Lakshmi (Agriculture), Jalagam Venkat Rao and Vinay Bhasker (CMO) and they were also conferred the status of Minister of State through a separate GO Ms No 270 issued on January 27 this year. (INN)
