TS Govt Targets planting of 40 crore saplings this year: Jogu

Telangana Government is committed to plant 40 crores of saplings this year in the state, Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna has stated. .          

Participating in   ‘Harita haram’ – the flagship program of expanding greenery to 36 per cent from the existing 23 per cent, at Ravindra Bharati here on Friday, the minister said that they are encouraging plantation program at different  levels on a massive scale. The Government has already taken up the plantation drive, he said and called upon the people to involve in it for its success.

           

Ramanna maintained that the spread of greenery has many advantages, such as routing out pollution, attracting rains and getting better environment. The TRS Government under the able leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has a vision to spread the greenery to a greater extent that will attract more rains to Telangana state, he said.

            The Minister also stated that this year, the target is to plant 40 crore of saplings as the government plans to plant a total of 230 crore saplings in the next three years. The drive is going on in a speedy manner to distribute 40,000 saplings to every village and 40 lakhs of saplings to each Assembly constituency, he maintained. It was also decided by the government to encourage farmers to plant 100 saplings each at least and get Rs five per plant towards maintenance,  the forest minister noted.(NSS)
