Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy on Monday announced that the “Godavari Pushkarulu” would be organised at a grand scale at a cost of nearly Rs 450 crore.
Speaking to media persons after chairing the meeting of Cabinet Sub-Committee at the State Secretariat, here Indrakaran Reddy said that the Godavari Pushkaralu would be held on the lines of “Kumbh Mela” of Uttar Pradesh. He the event would be used to promote the culture and traditions of Telangana State. Efforts would be made to attract large number of tourists from within and outside the country and an exclusive website would be launched for the purpose. He said tourists would be able to make online bookings for the same.
Indrakaran Reddy said that elaborate arrangements would be made for the Godavari Pushkaralu. Besides providing all facilities to the pilgrims and tourists, fool-proof security and safety would be ensured. Led by a senior IAS officer, a mega team of officials would be appointed to supervise the conduct of entire festival. He said the works on construction of 69 Bathing Ghats would begin soon.
Earlier, he presided a meeting attended by ministers Tummala Nageshwara Rao, T Harish Rao, K Tarakarama Rao and P Srinivas Reddy. (INN)
