TS Govt releases Rs. 16.38 Cr for drinking water

The Telangana Government on Friday released Rs 16.38 crore to mitigate drinking water problems in 67 Urban Local Bodies of the State during the summer.

The amount has been released from State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to the Chief Engineer, Public Health.

On February 10 this year, the Chief Engineer, Public Health, had submitted the Action Plan to mitigate the drinking water problems in all ULBs, except GHMC, due to deficit rainfall during South West Monsoon – 2014 and requested to release an amount of Rs.16.38 Crores to mitigate the water supply in all ULBs of Telangana State during ensuing Summer 2015 under ASC grants. The Finance Department, on May 13, released the Budget Release Order for Rs 16.38 crore. However, it was only on Friday that the government released the sanctioned funds.

Of Rs. 16.38 crore, Karimnagar got Rs. 2.75 Cr; Mahabubnagar – Rs.2.70 Cr; Nalgonda – Rs. 2.45 Cr; Medak – Rs. 1.85 Cr; Ranga Reddy – Rs. 1.50 Cr; Adilabad – Rs. 1.45 Cr; Warangal – Rs. 1.40 Cr; Khammam – Rs. 1.28 Cr and Nizamabad district got Rs. 1 Crore. (INN)
