TS Govt Plans for Fisheries Development

The Telangana State Government has proposed to construct a Modern wholesale Fish Market, 45 Retail fish markets, supply 100 vending units with mopeds and 30 vending units with luggage auto, under the scheme of Development of Fisheries, during 2016-17. The objective of the Fisheries Department is promotion of hygienic fish marketing.

During the year,  it is proposed to take up 100 units of cage culture  with a unit cost of Rs.20.60 lakh under development of Fisheries scheme.  The pattern of assistance is 40 per cent subsidy from NFDB, 40 per cent subsidy from State Governmemnt and 20 per cent beneficiary contribution.   It is proposed to promote two units for establishment of fish/prawn farm or Fish Seed Farm or Fish Hatchery with a unit cost of Rs.15 lakh with 50 percent subsidy assistance, according to official sources.

 

During the year, 50 Community Halls for Inland Fishermen would be constructed at a cost of Rs.10 lakh each, out of which Rs. Nine lakh is grant from the Fisheries Department and Rs.one lakh from MLA/MP/MLC or FCS.

It is also proposed to provide Managerial assistanc to strengthen  the activities and marketing units of Telangana State Fishermen Cooperative Societies Federation during the year.  An amount of Rs.25 lakh has been earmarked in the Budget for the year. (NSS)
