TS Govt issues GO waiving off Rs. 532.57 Cr Proper Tax

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government on Monday released the GO waiving off Rs. 532.57 Crore of Property Tax dues for the people residing in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

Addressing a press conference here, GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that the State Government’s G.O. Rt. No. 91, MA&UD, Dated: 20.02.2016 has been issued today. They said that the GHMC has to get around Rs. 2,078 crores dues from property tax payers. They said of Rs. 619.39 crores old dues, Rs. 474.33 crore has been waived off. Further, the GHMC has to get Rs. 1029.28 crores towards the Property Tax out of which Rs. 58.24 crores have been waived off. This waiver of penalty will benefit 624,709 tax payers.

The government has also reduced the Property Tax from Rs. 1200 to only Rs. 101. This will benefit 505,171 tax payers and amount involved is Rs. 85.63 crores

The GHMC Mayor said that for the tax payers, who already paid penalty for this year, the same amount would be adjusted in future. He appealed all the tax payers to pay their Property Tax immediately without waiting for cut-off date. The Property tax can be paid in Citizen Service Centres available at all the Circle Offices and Head Office.

With regard to Property Tax dues on government buildings, the Mayor said a special meeting would be conducted to address the issue. A meeting will also be conducted with the Chief Secretary and other senior officials to discuss the Property Tax dues of AP Secretariat and other government departments.

The GHMC Commissioner informed that the last date for BPS and LRs applications is on March 1. So far 118,615 applications have been received for BPS and 60,005 applications towards the LRS. (INN)
