TS Govt has no plans to acquire OU lands: Nayani

Taking a sudden U-turn on the issue, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy made it clear that the State Government has no plans to acquire the lands belonging to Osmania University

Speaking to media persons after launching the website of Fire Department at the State Secretariat here on Saturday, Nayani blamed the Congress leaders for the ongoing protests and controversy over the proposed acquisition of 11 acres of Osmania University lands for weaker section housing. He said that the Congress leaders remained silent when several acres of OU land was encroached upon by land grabbers. However, they provoked the OU students for agitation when he made a statement on the issue. He also found fault with the OU students for their protest and burning of KCR’s effigies.

The Home Minister said that the government would protect the OU lands. He also appealed the opposition parties not to provoke the OU students on the issue. (INN)
