The Government of Telangana on Thursday issued orders for the formation of a new circle exclusively for Palamuru – Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme by reorganizing the projects circles of Mahabubnagar district with the total cadre strength of 212 posts in different cadres.
The State Government has also authorised Engineer-in-Chief (AW), I&CAD Department, to take further necessary action and effect transfer of employees if any, up to his competency, in relaxation of ban on transfers strictly in conformity with the presidential order.
“The Government of Telangana envisages giving impetus to the Irrigation by creating irrigation potential under the Major, Medium, Minor Irrigation sector. Accordingly, orders were issued duly according administrative approval to the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme with an estimated cost of Rs. 35,200 crore to irrigate upland areas of about 10 lakh acres, drinking water to Hyderabad city and also for industrial use in Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy and Nalgonda districts, by lifting 90 TMC of flood water during the flood season from foreshore of Srisailam Project located on Krishna River in Mahabubnagar District,” said Dr. Shailendra Kumar Joshi, Principal Secretary of Irrigation Department, in the GO.MS.No.124 issued on Thursday.
In order to cope up with the targeted schedule for Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and to take up the works during the year 2015-16, it is necessary to have a dedicated team of engineers for this project, Joshi said. (INN)
