The Telangana Government on Thursday issued orders extending the “Kalayana Lakshmii Pathakam” for extending financial assistance of Rs. 51,000 to each unmarried girl belonging to socially and educationally Backward Classes and Economically Backward Classes at the time of marriage.
“Government of Telangana envisions the overall development of the Backward Classes and in particular the unmarried girls belonging to the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes communities who are the disadvantaged section of the society,” the State Government said in its GO MS. No. 5 issued by Backward Classes Welfare (OP) Department on Thursday. Under the scheme, a one-time financial assistance of Rs. 51,000 at the time of marriage would be granted to every SCBC/EBC girl with effect from April 1st, 2016.
To be eligible to get the benefit, the unmarried girl shall belong to the BC/EBC communities; be a resident of Telangana State and should have completed 18 years of age at the time of marriage. The combined income of parents of BC/EBC girl should not exceed Rs. 200,000 per annum. The wedding of the BC/EBC girl shall be on or after April 1st, 2016. (INN)
