The Telangana Government on Saturday announced the constitution of district-level committees to control the rise in prices of essential commodities.
According to the GO issued by the government, the Price Monitoring Committee will be headed by District Collector as its Chairman while the District Supply Officer will be the Convener. The Joint Collector, district officials of Agriculture, Marketing, Horiculture, Oilfed, Markfed, Civil Supplies Corporation, Vigilance & Enforcement and any other official the Chairman feel necessary would be the members of the committee.
The Committee will review the price rise, availability and intervention from the government side to control the price rise, corrective steps to be taken and to report to the government. It will meet once in a month and deliberate on various issues and suggesting measures for controlling the prices of food grains, pulses, edible oils, vegetables, milk and other commodities of daily use and any other issue pertaining to civil supplies department and recommend to the government the measures to be taken.
The committee may also invite the representatives of the Traders, Millers and Dealers, the GO said. (INN)
