Hyderabad: Confederation of Indian Industry Telangana is organized a seminar on ‘Export Opportunities for MSMEs’ in Hyderabad today.
The objective of the seminar is to create awareness among MSMEs of Telangana towards promoting the exports, disseminate the opportunities available in some of the key markets abroad and demonstrate the best practices and solutions adopted for exports.
During his Inaugural address, Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce and ITE&C Department, Govt. of Telangana spoke on the MSMEs in Telangana have adapted and developed advanced technological products in defence, renewable energy, minerals sectors, which are being exported to other countries. He stated that service exports have the major share among the exports from state and granite exports stands second which also accounts to 70% of the total exports from the country. He said Telangana government is finalizing the export promotion strategy of Telangana and trying to better its position top 5 exporting state to top 3. Telangana Government is trying to improve infrastructure facilities for exports at cluster level under Trade Infrastructure for Export scheme (TIES).
D Raju, Chairman, CII Telangana and Managing Director, Kirby Building Systems & Structures Pvt Ltd welcomed the gathering and said that Telangana is one among the top 5 exporters of the country. He stated said that there is an immense scope for further enhancing our position in global exports which will significantly help the MSME companies here. He also said that the MSME sector needs support and mentoring in terms of International linkages and reaching out to new markets for their sustainability.
In his Address, Sanjeev Kumar Saini, Asst Director, MSME-Development Institute made aware of the government schemes supporting MSMEs in international cooperation and stressed the need of adoption of Zero Deffect and Zero Effect by MSMEs for better export opportunities.
Delivering his Special Address at the seminar, Mahesh Desai, Managing Director, Meera & Ceiko Pumps Pvt Ltd applauded the efforts of Telangana state in helping sick MSME units with advisory of TIHCL and said that MSMEs are the largest employer in the country and the MSME sector is a nursery of entrepreneurship, often driven by individual creativity and innovation. Hence the sustainability of MSMEs is the key for the Growth of the nation. He also said that timely and efficient availability of export credit is critical for any trade activity and is one of the key drivers that boosts growth of export.
In his address, Mr Debasish Mishra, Deputy General Manager, State bank of India, said that Telangana is very well known for exports but more than 50% SMEs are not approaching any bank for availing credit and there is a need to bridge this gap. He also said that SBI is supporting MSMEs in preparing export documentations and consultancy for exports.
AVS Reddy, Convener – CII Telangana MSME Panel & Managing Director, Appidi Technologies Pvt Ltd stressed the importance of exports for MSMEs and stated that the value of MSME related products’ exported during 2017-18 has reached USD 147 billion.
The daylong Seminar discussed on export opportunities, availability of finance options for MSMEs in exports. The seminar was attended by 100 participants.
