TS Govt announces hike in RTC fares

The Telangana Government on Thursday announced increase in fares of different services of State-owned Road Transport Corporation.

Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy told reporters that hike in RTC fares was inevitable to prevent the corporation from further damage. The increase in bus passes fares would be implemented from June 27. The corporation would be able to realise Rs. 286 crore from the hike in fares.

The fares of Palle Velugu Buses have been increased by Rs. 1 up to 30 KM while it be Rs. 2 beyond 30 KM. There will be an increase by about 10% in the fares of other services. There will be an increase by 87 paise per km for Express Services; 98 paise for Delux; Rs. 1.16 for Super Luxury; Rs. 1.46 for Indira Bus; Rs. 1.71 for Garuda; Rs. 1.82 per KM for Garuda Plus services. The increase will be by 10% for buses plying in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. (INN)
